What are SEIT services?

Where are SEIT services provided?

Who receives SEIT services?

  • SEIT services are provided by a state certified Early Childhood educator who specializes in Students with Disabilities.  
  • Services are provided on an itinerant basis, meaning the provider travels to the educational or childcare setting.  
  • A SEIT is assigned to your child with the intention to address cognitive, emotional and social goals set out in the IEP.

  • SEIT services are available to children ages 3-5 years old.
  • Eligible children are those who have been identified by the Committee on Preschool Education (CPSE) as a preschool child with a disability.
  • These services are provided free of charge to eligible children by the Department of Education (DOE).

  • SEIT services may be provided at a location identified on the IEP including, but not limited to, an approved or licensed pre-Kindergarten or Head Start program, a hospital, a State facility, or a childcare location selected by the parent.  
  • SEIT services provided at home are limited and are decided on a case by case basis.
